Nel 64 d.C. un vastissimo incendio, che si sviluppò nella zona del Circo Massimo e raggiunse la vetta dell’Esquilino, distrusse la maggior parte del centro di Roma. WebOriginariamente il colosso era situato nel vestibolo della Domus Aurea, in summa sacra via [4]. Dalla vicinanza del Colosso l'anfiteatro Flavio fu soprannominato Colosseo . Moneta con effigie di Nerone. Sul lato opposto è visibile l'immagine più antica a noi conosciuta del Colossus Neronis
